J.B. Gerald is an accomplished educator, coach, and mentor with over two decades of experience dedicated to fostering academic and athletic excellence.
At Mater Dei School, he serves as a dedicated teacher and coach, guiding the growth and development of young minds and athletes. Previously, J.B. led the Office of Student and Alumni Success at Washington Jesuit Academy, where he achieved remarkable outcomes, including a 91% alumni engagement rate and a 77% college enrollment rate.
J.B. holds a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies with a minor in Special Education from Colgate University, where he distinguished himself as a student-athlete. He further advanced his education by earning a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, along with a principalship certification, from Penn State University. His coaching career includes significant roles at Penn State, University of Illinois, University of New Mexico, and Syracuse University, where he excelled in player development, talent management, and navigating the complexities of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) regulations.
In addition to his coaching achievements, J.B. is a passionate advocate for educational success, with a profound understanding of the challenges faced by students in urban environments. He is deeply committed to mentoring young scholars and athletes, helping them successfully navigate the evolving NIL landscape to achieve their full potential.
